UPC: FAN200B The Fanky could well be the perfect snapper lure! The weight loading and narrow profile ensures fast sinking and reduced drag. The strong offset assist hook, octopus skirt and lumo bead add further to the attraction. All metal-eating species find the Fanky attractive! Larger sizes are available to suit kingfish as well as deepwater species such as hapuku. How to Fish the Fanky The Fanky is best used as a jig lure close to the bottom. Using a softbait rod is fine but a 6-8kg jig rod with a baitcaster reel is even better for weights up to 120g. Braid Drop the Fanky to the bottom but be aware that mo0st strikes happen on the drop. Once the lure hits the bottom engage the gears and lift it a metre or so. Then start a lift and drop action with the rod. Mix it up with a short jerky upward action as well. Keep the lure near the bottom by releasing line as you drift. Retrieve and start again when the angle gets excessive. Snapper will often ‘eat’ the lure - it feels just like they are biting a flesh bait. Don’t be too quick to strike; sometimes it pays to wait a second or two. Make sure the drag isn’t set too tightly when using braid. The Fanky is one lure that fishes well when left unattended in the rod holder! The Fanky comes in four colours in each of the seven available weights.
